Cheer Big Sis Gift - Flip Flps

Night two of cheer camp, the big sis and little sis' give one another flip flops that they have decorated.  Brooke used the same ribbons that she used on the bulletin board to make the ribbon flip flops.  Each of the ribbon (6 different kinds) was cut to the same length and then tied onto the top of the flip flop.  It is hard to tell in the photo but they are very sparkly from the sparkle ribbon but they turned out really cute. 

A Craft: Patriotic Wreath

This was a very easy wreath that I made using balloons in red, white and blue.  I wanted something for Memorial Day Weekend which would also work for 4th of July.  I re-used a foam wreath form that I had from a previous wreath and I bought 12 inch round balloons in the three colors.  I ended up using approximately 250 balloons for the whole project.  I attatched them to the form with floral pins.  I bought mine very cheaply at Wal-mart and they are in the crafting area of the store.  The entire project took less than an hour to make and I love how it turned out.

Button Flower Pots...

I have had a container of older buttons for years now and I often like to open it up, look inside and sort them.  This weekend I seprated them by color and decided to use them on some smaller pots that I had lying around.  I used purple, yellow, green, blue, red, and white buttons for each of the pots and the base.  I hot glued them onto the pots and I plan to plant grass seed and flowers in the smaller sized pots.  This will be my display on my outdoor patio table.  What do you do with old buttons?

A Book Wreath - It's Finished !!

I was able to put the rest of the wreath together tonight since the book pages dried onto the wreath.  They were attached by taking Elmers glue and water and making a thin paste which the strips of the book pages were soaked in and then placed onto the form.  The rest of the wreath was the decorating with the kit from Michaels with birds, bird cages and butterflies.  I also made the two smaller book flowers with scraps and buttons I had on hand.  I love it!  Not only that but now that I have rediscovered my tub of old buttons, the possibilities are endless.  I already have another idea with small buttons and some old frames. 

A Craft in the Making

What do these items have in common?  They are my next craft project that I hope to have completed by tomorrow.  I am using a book that I picked up at a rummage sale for 25 cents, a $1 wreath form and $2 clearance birds, butterflies and cages from Michaels (I loved the colors).  Please forgive the pictures and the glass of wine in the background.  I would have finished but I had to make a quick trip tonight to the grocery store, assist with a school project on Tootsie Rolls and the usual dinner, laundry and lunches.  I hope everyone has a wonderful Thursday! 

Climbing Aboard the Subway (Art) Train....

Okay, so if you haven't noticed on the web, there is a lot of really cool (and Free) printable subway art.  I have been loving it and enjoying it.  I print it out and I have one 8 X 10 picture frame where I change out my subway art printables for Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, etc.  However, I wanted to make something of my own and after reading all the how to's on the internet, they seemed way too complex for my computer skills.  I am, after all, still trying to figure out this blogging business.  So I remembered a website that I had used in the past to make neat things for my girls, www.wordle.net.  You can create your own subway art of sorts or look at the gallery of words that others have created.  I like how you can change fonts, colors, styles, etc.  My favorite button is randomize.  You just enter the words you want and then play around with how they look and print.  You could enter names of family members, St. Patrick day words, Spring words, the possibles are endless. 



This one took me minutes to make.



Happy Valentine's Day Weekend !



Ribbons and Bows



 I hope everyone has great plans for a great weekend.  This is the wreath that I made for Valentine's Day this year.  I was inspired by other blogs who had done similar wreaths for Christmas and Halloween.  I bought 10 kinds of ribbon, cut them each in 5 inch strips, hot glued them together and then onto a ribbon wrapped wreath form.  The time consuming portion of the wreath was cutting and hot gluing the ribbons but the actual placing of the ribbons on the wreath was fun (minus the hot glue gun burns).  I really like how it turned out and I am already thinking of ways to make this work for Easter. 

Monday night is a hard night of the week to celebrate Valentine's day but my daughter is going to make heart shaped ravioli for dinner.  She is in the pasta portion of her culinary classes.  How are you celebrating?  With your loved one or with family?
